The first language requirement is a minimum of CLB 7, with each of listening, speaking, reading, and writing needing at least 4 points, totaling a minimum of 16 points. Achieving CLB 8 in any section earns an additional 1 point, while CLB 9 earns an additional 2 points.For example, if the IELTS scores for speaking, listening, reading, and writing are 6, 8, 6.5, and 7, they correspond to CLB 7, 9, 8, and 9, respectively. The total score would be: 4 + 6 + 5 + 6 = 21.For the second language, achieving CLB 5 in listening, speaking, reading, and writing can earn an additional 4 points.
Doctorate: 25 points, Master’s: 23 points, two or more college diplomas or degrees (one at least 3 years): 22 points, 3 or more years of college or bachelor’s degree: 21 points, 2-year college diploma: 19 points, 1-year college diploma: 15 points, high school graduation: 5 points.
6 years or more: 15 points, 4-5 years: 13 points, 2-3 years: 11 points, 1 year: 9 points. Only work experience in the past 10 years in NOC 0, A, or B categories can be counted. This experience can be outside Canada, may not be continuous, and can be in different NOC categories (but at least one year of continuous work experience in the same category is required). Self-employment and work experience during studies are also acceptable.

Spouse achieving CLB 4 (IELTS scores of listening 4.5, reading 3.5, writing 4, speaking 4): 5 points; applicant or spouse completing 2 years of full-time study in Canada: 5 points; applicant or spouse having 1 year of work experience in Canada: 5 points; having an LMIA: 5 points; having relatives (citizens or permanent residents living in Canada, aged 18 and above): 5 points.
